6/11/01: This past weekend I went up both of these trails which are located up
the Poudre Canyon. I was on a motorcycle with 2 friends and had some
information that you could possibly pass on.
The trail was open coming from the Seven Mile side of the area. As we went down towards Chambers Lake, there were at least a dozen fallen trees on Green Ridge blocking the trail. On the way back from the beginning of Green Ridge Trail, the first of the trees is at 3.0 miles. The area was very wet and muddy with very deep water crossings in numerous locations. The main problem is that most of these sections can't be avoided and because there is no way around the troughs.
I am letting you know because the trail is set to open from the Green Ridge side on 6/15/01. Anyone planning to make it through with a 4x4 will need either a winch or a chain saw to remove the timber. They will also need to be careful of the deep mud and water crossings.
Thanks, John Riott

Northwest of Fort Collins. From Fort Collins, take Highway 14 west for about 60 miles. Turn right on CR 103 and follow the road to Lost Lake. Green Ridge Trail begins at the North end of the parking lot.
