are these trails still open??

the family is comming into town for veterans day weekend and was gonna take em 4wheelin..

are these trails still open?

-mosquito pass
-tincup pass
-hancock pass
-alpine tunnel road

they want to see the ghosttowns and these are the closest to me...

Just a guess but I would imagine that they are all impassable. You should be able to get to St. Elmo which is sort of a ghost town. You might be able to get up to Hancock.

Two weeks ago I did tin cup. It was passabale from the east side but on the last 100ft the snow made the off camber section very scary. When we reached the top there was a sign saying that the rest of the pass was closed due to erosion. The town below the pass was clear and really cool to see.

I would imagine Mosquito would be the same. It's one of the higher ones in CO so I'd expect the shelf road to be impassible at this time of year. However you should be able to get to the North London Mill ruins on the east approach, even if there's some snow on the trail.

My wife and I were up in the South Park area over the weekend. All the high passes are pretty much snowed in. I imagine the same would be true for the Alpine Tunnel area.

well i just got back and heres my report...

browns pass/breakneck pass is still doable no problem...

tincup pass is halfway doable... i went through the snow regardless (afterall this is a very easy trail...and its a lotta fun in the snow!!!)

mosquito pass is doable except for the shelf pass road... but u can still go and checkout all the mining buildings...

didnt go on alpine tunnel road but i imagine its doable since its a very easy trail (snow or not....)

i went halfway through hancock pass and the snow is still doable... i managed about 20 mph or soo, going slower through the snow banks... u can still get far enough to walk to the alpine tunnel thingie or u can checkout the mary murphy mine (thats a bit hard to get up that side road...better to walk..) and u can checkout the numerous log cabins there...(the tilting one.. etc)
