Leadville/Buena Vista trails

I'll be spending Thursday thru Saturday camping at Clear Creek res. this week and was wondering about the condition of the trails over that way - especially Mosquito Pass?

Also, is Weston Pass worth the time to climb it? It doesn't sound like it from the review in the database.

Have not been up that way yet, but based on what I've seen at different elevations, I'd find it hard to believe Mosquito is open all the way over. At the least there is probably still a very large drift a the top on the west side of the pass.

Weston is an easy drive, you can do it in 2wd. As for Mosquito I doubt it will be completely clear all the way through till end of June at the earliest.

aye, 2kcrew is right...last year around june there was still a bit of snow, not much, but i tend to wait till around july to run mosquito. I usally run georga pass and trails interconnecting. Fun trails but 5/21 i got stuck in a snow drift up to my waist for about 2 1/2hrs and had to dig. ford finaly was able to pulled my dakota out. georga should be pretty clr now i would think, its a decent fun trail.
