Possible Trail Closure: Gilpin, CO - Action Needed!

There is an effort to close the entire area south of Tolland Road.

This includes part of Pickle Gulch, part of Kingston Peak, Yankee Hill, and the myriad of trails in that system. there is a meeting MONDAY JULY 18th at 6pm at the Gilpin County Community Center (hwy 46 & 119, 1/4 mile east of 119 on 46). be there if you care.

if you cant make it, email your concerns to pubcomment@co.gilpin.co.us or call 303-582-5214 and give Roger Baker an earful.

this is 7680 acres to be closed to motorized vehicles.

so far this effort is very well received...were the underdogs. if you enjoy having this very scenic, easy to moderate trail system and ATV recreation area available less than an hour from Denver, MOBILIZE.

I called and spoke with Roger Baker this morning. According to him, this is not something controlled at the county level but is a push from Rep. Jared Polis's office to expand the James Peak Wilderness area. He suggested that if you can't make to the meeting (or even if you can), to send you comments in writing to the address below.
