Jenny Creek Adams, CO: Trail Head: N 39?55.375, W 105?36.847 Trail End: N 39?56.274, W 105?39.161 Delorme CO Atlas & Gazeteer pg: 39, 5-A Nearby Trails: Coming Soon. Access: Rollinsville lies on CO-119 North of Blackhawk. In the center of Rollinsville, there is a single road leading west towards Rollins Pass (FSR 16). Drive this road west following the signs to Rollins Pass. Within a few miles, you will arrive at the Rollins Pass trail head. Look at your odometer as you pass the trail head still proceeding towards Rollins Pass. 5.4 miles from the Rollins Pass trail head (you did check your odometer didn't you?) Forest Service Road 502 exits to the right (Latitude:?N39?55.44" ?? Longitude:?W105?36.73'). ![]() Trail: Jenny Creek trail starts out as fairly narrow forest road leading down into the valley parallel to Rollins Pass Road. As you make your descent, you'll pass two bridges, the first of which is just a bit narrow, but nothing of a problem. The second bridge, if you can call it that, comes at the end of your descent and marks the beginning of the harder portion of the trail. This second bridge has drastically deteriorated over time. I've seen photos in trail books that show the bridge completely spanning the creek, but this is no longer the case. As the bridge sits now, it is more of an obstacle than anything. This is actually one of the hardest obstacles on the trail simply because tire placement is critical. Too far either way and you're bound to fall into a difficult situation. Make sure you have a spotter and get out and check your line before proceeding. After passing the second bridge, you are faced with an immediate climb up to the left. Choose the correct line and most vehicles shouldn't have a problem, this section is much more difficult coming back down. On the day I ran the trail, everyone in the group made it up and down with minimal effort. A bit of lift would definitely help out. You're climb up Jenny Creek trail is actually rather simple once you get going. There are many sections of the trail that actually run through the creek. Please make your best effort to keep moving while in the stream and not abuse the trail. As you climb you're likely to find snow covered parts of the trail even into July. As the snow melts, it leaves the trail very moist and vulnerable. Even if you're careful, making a bypass is illegal and will likely shut this trail down. If you can't make it thru the trail as it is, please return down the path. Near the top of the trail, there are a few rock obstacles that you can choose to climb over though the trail allows simple alternatives for the the lower crowds. The end of the trail is marked by a few final climbs that bring you back onto Rollins Pass Road at Yankee Doodle Lake. From here you can continue to the top of Rollins Pass or head back down the Rollins Pass 'washboard' Road. Alternatively you can run Jenny Creek back down. Overall, the trail is very fun with only a few difficult obstacle at the beginning. With good spotters this trail should be a breeze. I wouldn't recommend it to stock vehicles, but a simple lift should suffice. -Scott Brayshaw G.P.S. Coordinate List: No Extended G.P.S. data for this trail is available. |
