Access: Leave Moab going North on Highway 191. Turn west on the dirt road that leads into Little Canyon about 7 miles north of the Colorado River Bridge. The trail includes the area between Little Canyon and Highway 313 to the west.

Trail: This trail begins at 7.3 miles north from the intersection of 191 and 128 in a red dirt parking lot on the West side that is the trail head for other trails.

For the two D-90's and my Jeep, not loosing our way to Rock Chucker seemed to be the main obstacle. Cairns and ribbons marked a portion of the way but the GPS defined the correct direction when we needed scientific help.

Rock Chucker is an optional challenge. The main trail does not go up this hurdle but continuous at the bottom of this obstacle to Mirror Gulch. Wells in his book warns that "The narrowness of the gulch adds to the difficulty of a series of high ledges."

I attempted Rock Chucker first and rose to the top the second time after getting the correct line from the spotter. The two D-90's took only one try.

After conquering Rock Chucker, we decided to explore for a connection to the main trail without coming back down. It took foot exploration and the use of the GPS to finally find the main trail, but in doing so, we missed Mirror Gulch.

We veered off the trail again, but once we found our direction we found the steep, uphill, narrow road that has "a tippy spot at the top next to a steel post." The Wells book warns that the right side is soft and will not support a vehicle, thereby forcing you up a stair step which tips you down hill and can get you front, driver's side air if not careful. In order to challenge Widow Maker, you must climb this hill.

One of the D-90's was first to try Widow Maker and sat on his rear tire precariously after getting off line. He winched himself up. I was second, followed by the other D, and we both made it on the first try. The first D came back down, which was interesting in itself, and proceeded back up in one swoop.

The trail is reasonable from here and comes out on hwy 313. A right turn there gets you back to 191 and a right turn goes back to Moab.
